IBM servers are amazing, even when a disk fails, they are stunning easy to get up and running again.
But it requires that you did it right, from the start and spent the extra resources to establish security on your Raid configuration.

  1. Hi Morten, just kindly ask for your suggestion. i have a very old x3500 system x server and one of the drive (500Gb) is playing up like yours. and i couldnt find the exact same size and model of the hard drive. would i be able to replace a bigger size or other brand instead of IBM. Do i have to do anything on the raid controller or simply plug and play?
